You Don’t Have to Be “Ready” to Get Help
Survival programs are designed to keep you safe and stable right now—whether you’re thinking about treatment, not ready to quit, or somewhere in between. These programs connect you with peer support, naloxone, transportation, and other resources that meet you exactly where you are. No judgment. No requirements. Just people who care and want to help you survive today so you can thrive tomorrow.
What Are Survival Programs?
Survival programs bridge the gap between harm reduction and formal treatment. They provide ongoing support, coaching, and life-saving resources that help you stay safe while you figure out your next steps—on your timeline, not anyone else’s.
You can access survival programs whether you:
- Are actively using and not ready to stop
- Have tried treatment before and it didn’t work
- Need help with housing, food, or transportation
- Want support but don’t want formal treatment yet
- Are thinking about treatment but aren’t sure
- Just need someone who understands
The goal is simple: Keep you alive and connected.
What Survival Programs Offer
Naloxone (Narcan) Distribution & Training: Free naloxone kits and training on how to use them. Learn to recognize overdose signs and save a life—maybe your own, maybe someone else’s. Available through multiple Project Persevere partners with no questions asked.
Peer Recovery Coaching: Connect with someone who’s been where you are. Peer coaches have lived experience with addiction and recovery—they get it. They’ll meet with you regularly, help you navigate systems, connect you to resources, and support you without pressure or judgment.
Mobile Outreach Services: Can’t get to a clinic? We come to you. Mobile outreach brings screening, counseling, naloxone, and connections to services directly into the community. No appointment needed at many locations.
Transportation Support: Getting to appointments shouldn’t be a barrier. Several programs provide transportation assistance to medical appointments, counseling sessions, and other essential services.
Basic Needs Support: Stability starts with meeting basic needs. Get connected to food assistance, emergency housing, clothing, and other essential resources while you work on your health.
Warm Handoffs to Treatment: When you’re ready for more intensive support, survival program staff help you transition smoothly to treatment programs. They’ll make calls, attend appointments with you, and ensure you’re not navigating the system alone.
Court Navigation & Support: If you’re involved with the justice system, specialized programs help you meet requirements while getting the support you need for recovery—not just compliance.
