Opioid abatement is a whole-community effort. No single program—or sector—can meet every need. In Mobile, the City and Helios Alliance coordinate a network that brings the entire community to the table so people can find help quickly, move between services smoothly, and be met with dignity.
Neighbors with lived experience and family advocates shape what “help” actually needs to look like. Clinicians and recovery providers deliver evidence-based care and long-term support. Schools and youth groups strengthen prevention. Outreach and harm-reduction teams keep people alive and safer. Reentry, housing, transportation, and employment partners make access real. Faith and community organizations extend trust and reach. Data and evaluation partners show what’s working so we can improve together.
The work spans the full continuum—prevention, treatment and recovery, survival and harm reduction, plus coordination and communication—so there’s no wrong door. Coordination is continuous: Helios convenes partners, aligns referrals, and helps the network adapt quickly. Services are organized to reach every Council District, with added focus where access has lagged.
